Q: Does it hurt?

A:
People have described getting a tattoo as the most excruciating thing the person has experienced, to being highly pleasurable. Most people fall somewhere in the middle. The best way to describe it is feeling like a hot scratch.

Q: Where is the easiest place to get a tattoo?

A: The easiest place to get a tattoo is wherever you want it! If you have no other tattoos to compare it to, then it is all the same. Everyone's skin is different, and everyone has a different experience.

Q: How long will it take my tattoo to heal?

A: Generally it takes about 2 weeks for your tattoo to heal completely. Tattoos are very easy to care for and if you follow the simple instructions your artist provides you with, your tattoo will heal quickly and the colors will be bright.

Q: How should I care for my tattoo?

A: Your tattoo artist will cover your new tattoo with a bandage. Leave the bandage on for at least 4 hours before taking it off. When you do take it off, wash the tattoo with HOT water and antibacterial soap, using only your fingertips. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel, then apply a small amount of TatCare. DO NOT USE VASELINE or vaseline based products such as A&D or Antibiotic OINTMENTS.. Do this 2-3 times a day. Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight for 10 days. Do not swim, take baths (quick showers are ok) or soak your tattoo in water for 10 days.

We recommend using TatCare because it is made especially for healing tattoos. It was formulated after 10 years of research in Hawaii and contains sunblock, triple antibiotics and pain relievers. While we strongly advise against exposing your tattoo to sunlight, TatCare will offer protection. If you are allergic to triple antibiotics, then the next best things you can use are plain, unscented Lubriderm or Aquaphor lotion.

Q: Can I get a tattoo on my hands or feet?

A: Yes, you can, but we cannot guarantee tattoos on hands or feet. Wearing shoes or touching things with your hands causes friction, which causes the skin cells in those areas to regenerate faster than other areas, which means that a tattoo in those areas will fade faster.

Q: What is the minimum age to get a tattoo?

A: In Missouri, the legal age for getting a tattoo is 18. Shop policy is to not tattoo anyone under 16, except under special circumstances. Parent or legal guardians' consent is required under 18.

Q: Will my tattoo fade?

A: Yes, eventually your tattoo will fade.Your skin is constantly regenerating. Every minute of the day we lose about 30,000 to 40,000 dead skin cells off the surface of our skin. That does not mean that your tattoo will start fading immediately, and if you keep your tattoo out of the sunlight and use sunblock, you may not need a touch up for years.

Q: If I gain or lose weight will my tattoo change?

A: It depends where on your body the tattoo is. Areas that have tighter skin, like your calves, are less likely to distort, while areas like your stomach or arms are more likely.
